And Slaughter!!! Are you kidding me? I grew up listening to BTO driving around in my friend's car, and now I'm up on the same stage as them! The crowd was great, the bands were great. It was just a fun show. Did I mention we played on the same stage as BTO? Hahahaha. I wish I could email everyone from my old high school some photos! |

I really enjoyed the U.S.O. tour overseas for the troops in 2003. It may not be one of the largest or wildest shows we've every played, but just seeing the look on our troops faces made it all worthwhile. Makes you feel like your accomplishing something, like your actually doing some good and giving something back. Our boys are so far from home in a foreign country where everything is so different, doing a hard thankless job... Playing the U.S.O. tour is like bringing them slices of homemade apple pie. Everyone made us feel so appreciated and welcome you couldn't help but get a warm fuzzy feeling deep inside. You can tell when you get up on a stage and a crowd is genuinely enthusiastic to see you perform, and it's never been more so than during that tour. We made friends during that time that we'll keep for life.
I've been singing pretty well my whole life. You wouldn't believe how much my style has changed over the years. My mother used to work for Johnny Cash and I played my first gig at eleven years old. I still remember how nervous I was, standing up there on stage cranking out Bette Middler's ''the rose''. Sang Gospel for the longest time, but then of course I got a little older and switched over to Rock. What teenager wants to sing Gospel? Every once and while you want to try your hand at something a little different or new. That's just human nature. I've always enjoyed good Country and we've been toying with the idea of recording something a little more down home. You do know I live in Nashville? Down here Country music just soaks into you. I think they put it in the water supply.
Of course a lot of other things have also changed over the years. Like my opinion of bikers. When you're growing up singing Gospel bikers are... well... you know... all those '70's movies? But when you actually start playing some of the bike shows and get to know them you realize that they really are a band of brothers. I don't know any other class of people that do so much for their community. There's always a poker run, a benefit to help out a fallen brother or a needy family, or simply to help raise money for a good cause. Now all our best friends are bikers. There isn't a better bunch of people around. I'll feel safest and most welcome at any biker event, it's some of the shows with ''regular'' people that make me feel nervous. I love the biker community, and playing motorcycle events. Honestly I couldn't even imagine things being any other way.I'd like to take this opportunity to mention some of our sponsors. Sparks America for the motor home, Bainbridge bike fest for the trailer and Etephone guitars. And most importantly to say a special hello to all our fans and the friends we've made in the biker world over the last few years. Thanks for your support, we love you guys! We already have a couple of dozen shows booked up for next year and look forward to seeing everyone again in 2009. Keep on rocking and thank YOU for all your great support! | ||
