Exclusive biker party coverage : 2008 Hogfest of TN A little on the quite side, but you can tell it will be a great party once it grows some. I headed out to cover a new rally this weekend in Pelham, TN. First time and I guess it wasn't too bad. I'd expected more than a couple/three hundred people to show up, but then again it did rain all weekend. They had quite a packed-out schedule full of wild contests but drizzlin' wetness threw them off their printed schedule. But they did have on Friday the ''sow sucking contest'', the ''sexiest sow'' contest, a wet t shirt contest and the ''hottest hog'' contest. Saturday featured a bike show, loudest pipes contest and the oil wrestling. One thing you will notice at this rally is the central ''hog'' theme. Many of the contests and games are named after pigs. So just in case some animal activist is reading this I have to mention that no porkers were harmed during the process of this party. Except for the ones used for morning bacon, ham & sausage. And the hot dogs. And corn dogs. And let's not forget the bacon cheeseburgers and sausage on a bun. Ooops, I guess this party really stuck it to them poor little pigs! Oh well, that's what you get for being at the bottom of the food chain. The bands were suprisingly good. Four different groups played culminating with the Jasmine Cain band late Saturday night. Like all new rallies they had a few electrical problems, and you can tell the good people putting on the show haven't got it quite the well oiled machine everyone's come to expect after all these rallies. I had a pretty good time. They had the right kind of people show up, just not quite enough of them for the party to really wild up. But you sure can tell it's got potential. Once the kinks get worked out and they get a few more people through the gate you can tell it's one of those parties destined for wildness. They've got another rally comming up this fall, it'll be worth checking out. |
