SOUTHERN THUNDER BIKE FEST
March 30th - April 1st 2007, Dothan, AL
At the farm center in Dothan, AL.
Entry Fee : $35 for entire weekend, includes primitive (tent) camping. RV hookups available for an additional fee. Saturday only pass for $20
Live Bands : Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Mutt Brothers, Anxiety, Lemonsqueezers
Contests : Dry Tee Shirt Contest
Events : Games scheduled but did not happen, dog show scheduled but did not happen, charity auction, bike show
First time ever rally, this one has nothing to do with the Dothan bike fest previously held at the same place at about the same time every year.
They had big plans and booked MOLLY HATCHET and BLACKFOOT for their very first rally, expecting to start off their all new party with a bang.
I guess that they had some trouble getting the word out because the turnout was a little less than stellar. Something in the 500'ish range of people or so for the bands on Saturday night. Kind of hard to have a bunch of contests and activities when their aren't that many participants. On the other hand just showing up for Molly Hatchet & Blackfoot pretty well garanteed you FRONT ROW SEATS! So if your a music lover this rally was definately for you.
Unfortunately, I rate BIKER PARTIES, not music festivals. The bands completely rocked but the biker party part of this weekend was rather disorganized and lacking, so as a biker party I can only give this one low rating. If it would have been called the Dothan music festival I would have given it a great review as I got front row seats for Blackfoot & Molly Hatchet for the same price as an average restaurant meal.
